Marlborough Valley

New Zealand came to international prominence in the 1980's with its world-beating Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. This Region, covering a large section of the north-east of the South Island, below the Sounds, is a renowned wine region, and NZ's largest. With diverse soils and varying micro-climates, the wineries in the Region's main valleys produce a huge variety of wines. The Wairau Valley, one of NZ's sunniest and driest places, produces fruity, full-bodied wines. The Awatere Valley produces bright, aromatic Pinot Noir and exotic Sauvignons. With well over 150 wineries in the Region, you are spoilt for choice of internationally acclaimed vino.
