At the very top of the bottom of the world where two oceans meet, is Te Rerenga Wairua (Cape Reinga) where the spirits of Maori depart to begin their final journey away from this earth. The famous lighthouse is in a recreation reserve and affords fabulous views of the tidal race as the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific. It's such a treasured place, it's awaiting World Heritage Site status from Unesco.
